Wikibase Community User Group/Reports/2023

In 2023 the Wikibase Community User Group continued its primary activity of supporting Wikibase users through its mailing list and the Wikibase Community group on Telegram - which remained the busiest forum for discussion.

However, alternatives were explored: an attempt was made to use a channel on Wikimedia Chat (Mattermost) but it failed to gain traction; the service was shuttered later in the year. Wikibase World (hosted on Wikibase.cloud) and its forum were set up by a group member to replace the Wikibase Registry and encourage community-wide discussions.

No grants were solicited from WMF in the group's name, but a group member was awarded $3851.51 to develop a Zotero to Wikibase/WD export tool. Community members also collaborated on a Wikibase Lexical Data Workshop at the 2023 Conference on Language, Data and Knowledge.

Meetings

Six hour-long videoconferencing meetings were held with varying topics; attendance varied from 3-17 (x¯: 11)
